Purchased the 5inch model for "Lawyer of the Year" awards which are a bit of fun. Neat and smart, exactly as in the picture. Only really room for engraving on three lines; two looks better. Great value for money for what they are.
I purchased the 5inch model for a presentation item - this appears to be about the right size for most purposes. The gavel looks very smart with a bright shiny metallic finish exactly as shown in the pictures.
Engraving is done on a separate metal band which is then wrapped around the central part of the head of the gavel and firmly held in place by screwing the handle into the head. This is gives a neat and effective finish. There is really only room for four lines of engraving using a legible font - so ensure that this is not exceeded.
Overall, I am very pleased with the result which looks as if it cost a lot more than it actaully did.
